The Irish Haemochromatosis Association launches an Awareness Campaign for World Haemochromatosis Awareness Week, 1-7th June, 2020. 1 in 5 Irish people carry the Haemochromatosis gene and it is Ireland's most common genetic condition. Ireland has the highest rates of the disorder in the world. Early diagnosis is vital to save lives, as lack of treatment can lead to premature death.

World Haemochromatosis Awareness Week takes place from the 1st to the 7th June this year. To commemorate this event, Haemochromatosis International is organising an online photographic competition, FotoFeXPO

Good news from the Irish Blood Transfusion Service. Although the IBTS are not accepting first time blood donors at the moment, they are making an exception for people with Haemochromatosis who wish to be donors. Check that you are eligible by calling 1850 731137 or go to www.giveblood .ie
